Community leader and guest speaker Liliana Garcia-Rivera shared her story at San Diego City College that impacted the Chicano Movement in San Diego. When she founded Sherman Unidos her focus was creating community engagement with cultural initiatives in the Sherman Heights Area. Some of her accomplishments include being named “Hispanic Leader of the Year in Business” by the Diamond Business Association and the Sherman Youth Mural.
The impacts Liliana made can still be felt to this day, her nephew Francisco Lopez is the current president of Artivism Y Culture at San Diego City Community College. Her legacy continues.
